SELMA, Ind. -The SELMA, Indiana - Blue River girls basketball has been a Class A local strength for Mut 22 coins the last three seasons.
The Vikings (3-2) have taken home three consecutive sectional titles and a national championship in 2020 after head coach Terry Bales took over the team in 2017-18. Before Bales Blue River's final sectional title was from 1984-85.
Bales entered this season with a record of 72-30 that included a 22-4 (9-0 in the Mid Eastern Conference) mark the best he's had to date. The Vikings were missing two key players as Mallory Cross and Abby Thornburgh in that squad, however the team had to replace them. Bales team was charged this year with replacing their 14.5 scores, 6.8 resources along with 5.4 assist per game.
However, Blue River still has senior center Ally Madden, one of the area's best interior players with a sharpshooting junior Maci Chamberlin, as well as a strong foundations around them to help make yet another run at the tournament.
Although four consecutive sectional crowns could break the school's record in the process, the Vikings still have many steps to take towards being a definitive postseason candidate.
"I don't know as there is still room for growth. I would like to see us become a team capable doing this. I don't think we're in the right place yet," Bales said of the team's chances at winning the sectional championship. "We've got to learn how to defend better ... make sure not to make the errors that aren't forced. This means we have some work to be done, and definitely (a part-time title) is where we hope to be."
Although winning four consecutive sectional championships would set a school record however, there's a long way to go before the Vikings still have some way to buy Madden 22 coins go towards becoming a real postseason candidate.
