I had been a die hard Gates fan boy for most of my life (ever since I started working on cars with my dad). My dad believed and trusted in Gates, that carried over to me, so when I could buy Gates products, I did. Well fast forward to 2018 - 2019 and I had to major set backs from the Gates corporation.
First I had 2 water pumps for Honda Acura J Series V6's fail at about 60,000 miles. One failure caused catastrophic head damage and the other failure was a over-heating issues that almost left the car abandoned.
Then I come to the situation, I documented in the video above, the tensioner was not manufactured correctly and caused a huge problem when the engine was on and rotating.
So long story boring, stay away from Gates products, espically their tensioners and water pumps. 041219
